What is S.M.A.R.T Start?

S.M.A.R.T Start is a marketing service which helps start ups and fledgling businesses transform their business plan into relevant and tangible marketing communications. It is designed to help businesses make sense of their marketing needs right from the start and establish an immediate market presence.

Why have we launched this service?

Since starting Read & Woolf in 2003, we have received many enquiries from entrepreneurs starting their own business. In most cases they have finished their business plan and acknowledge that they need marketing support in order to promote their new business intelligently and cost-effectively - some have very clear requirements whilst others don’t know where to begin.

We get asked many questions including: How do I identify the most effective ways to promote my business? How will I convey our company values to our customers? Can a website really help promote my business?

The Marketing Strategy:

After an initial consultation with you, we will review your business plan and identify how to maximise your offering to customers.

We will do this by identifying how to promote your strengths, improve your weaknesses, exploit opportunities and minimise threats.

From this, we will help you set marketing objectives by which to measure the success of your customer communications.

The Communications Plan:
One of the keys to successful marketing is to know how best to allocate your budget - especially when it's limited. The communication plan achieves just that, identifying the most effective ways to promote your business. This includes:

  • Communication objectives
  • Recommended media channel usage
  • Recommended budget allocation
  • Recommended timescales
Brand Identity & Corporate Stationery

A brand symbolises how people think about your business. It helps customers in their decision-making, creating a perceived knowledge of what they are going to buy – before they buy it.

An important part in developing your brand therefore is the creation of a brand identity that communicates your vision and values. And that’s what we’ll do in this stage – we will provide you with:

  • A brand positioning document
  • Mood boards which communicate use of fonts, colours, logo, tone of voice, language and photography style
  • Your brand identity
  • Artwork for business cards (up to 5 staff names), headed paper and compliment slips

Website

Most of our start-up enquiries ask for a website as an immediate “shop window” from which they hope to drive potential customers to their business.

This service provides start-ups with an initial web presence from which they can easily build upon. We will design and build an easy to maintain website which focuses on clear design, brand communication and intuitive navigation. We will also provide you with a long-term strategy with which to develop your website as a business or sales tool.

  • Site architecture & content plan
  • Design selection & build of 6 web templates (allowing
    you to add pages and keep the website updated via
    the Content Management facility)
  • Online customer enquiry form emailed to a specified address
  • Optimised for natural search engine listings
